Upon hearing of the disaster, Mother Moon immediately designated $1 million dollars to go to relief efforts in Nepal. When a typhoon hit the Philippines in 2013, she did the same, and also sent supplies and volunteers. She has been active for many years in poor and war-torn countries throughout Africa and Southeast Asia, including educational projects for children in refugee camps.
We are proud and humbled to have the example of Father and Mother Moon to look up to in these times of turmoil and grief. Through their words and actions they have shown us that as individuals, we can make a huge impact on the world. It is a blessing to be able to lend a hand to those in need and embrace them as if they were our own family.
“The essence of love is to cast aside any thought of having others live for one’s self; it is to live for the sake of others and give for the whole. Love gives, but then forgets even the fact that it has given and continues to give without ceasing. This is a love that gives in joy.”
-Father Moon, As a Peace Loving Global Citizen
“All of us need to create a community based on the culture of heart and characterized by harmony and unity. That makes us all a part of a single family, a community of heart. Division and conflict continue to afflict the world, yet if you can live an exemplary life of giving and living for the sake of others, this dream will surely come true.”
-Mother Moon, Pyeong Hwa Gyeong, 345
For those of us in other parts of the world, the best way to help at this time is to donate.
Our DP Life community reaches over 37,000 people on Facebook. If every person donated just one dollar, that’s $37,000 towards much needed supplies and services for the people of Nepal.
Together, we can make a difference.
“To realize that we exist for the sake of others is the great achievement that changes our lives.”
– Father Moon (As a Peace Loving Global Citizen, 139)
